The Update (sans pictures, mostly)

No photos as promised for two reasons:
1) I can't find the data cable for the camera.
2) The camera needs new batteries to function.
But I do have one picture I can share, taken by Mr. Creazil (sara), which will be shown at the bottom of the page.
So now that we've got that out of the way...

Well, everyone knows about some of the things I'd recently purchased. New glasses. A dress form. Books and comics from France, some gifts, my FreakAngels throw, some movies, music (movies wise, The Maxx video cassette, Jekyll the mini series, Русалочка, The Worst Witch, Spaced... and music wise, Bella Morte's latest- from when I went to see them at the Penny, which was a rather depressing turn-out but a kick-ass show).

And I got a full 88-key M-Audio Keyboard controller that I used to practice the Requiem for a Dream theme piece, which landed me an A on that part of my Piano final!

Piano I: (?)
Don't know my final grade yet, but I got a B on my final (at least I assume. I got B's all 'round on 4 parts, and an A on the performance piece). Like I said above, I played Requiem for a Dream, composed by Clint Mansell. He was pretty lenient with me when I altered the piece to fit my level, which still was above the levels of everyone else in class. I will continue to practice the piece until I can do it perfectly, but as for the alteration, I nixed some notes in some chords if my fingers couldn't reach (of course I determined which notes wouldn't be missed) and I omitted one part which was WAY beyond my level of comprehension, not to mention, I really put a strain on my hands.
I did alright on five-finger patterns. I sucked at triads. And I rocked the scales.

The Short Story: B-
I was worried about not passing this class because I didn't hand in the final paper (which I really wanted to do, but had no inspiration for until it was too late, plus when the time to do the paper finally came around, the weather was changing and that ALWAYS makes me too tired to function (seriously, I was sleeping like, 18 hours a day). Anyway, I rocked the tests and the other essays, but didn't have time to finish the last class essay (I thought it would make-or-break me there, because I didn't actually read most of the assignments, but I payed attention in class).
Thank goodness for my bullshitting skills!

Stage Makeup / Mask Making: A
Last week, I went into class, and someone handed me a sign-in sheet and said to sign in, the teacher's gone to the hospital because he can't feel the left side of his face... And my first thought was (whoops... careful what you wish for...). Nothing TOO serious, but he may need some kind of surgery. I wasn't spiteful, but I wasn't going to be sorry for him. I don't like him, he doesn't like me. Our personalities clash, and sometimes he forgets to tell me what to do and when class is over when I end up in the spare room (our class is held in the basement of the theatre, and there are 2 main makeup rooms, a shop room and a costume room where you can go if there's not enough room in the other rooms).
Anyway, I made some bitchin' masks. Both skulls, and both from the wonderful Special Effects book given to me by the wonderful pax_athena. When I find the camera's data cable, those will be among the small horde of photos I'll be posting.

Japanese I: (?)
All I know is that I tried. I did most of my homework. I passed... well, some of my quizzes and tests. But I bombed the final so hard (and anyone who is friends with me on facebook will see me repeat myself here), so hard, it was like Hiroshima all over again (and as icantmakeme says, a Japanese student is making a Pearl Harbor reference regarding his English exam right now).
I thought I'd be okay. I thought it would be multiple choice. My German test was multiple choice. But no... ALL fill-in-the-blank and short answer. I could read the test just fine... but I couldn't remember how to answer most of them... and of course, we all know, the one thing you didn't study will be the one thing prominent on the test. Yep. That's where I struggled.
And I didn't get to finish it, either.
Charles took me out for Japanese food anyway. I drowned my sorrows in tempura ice cream :)

German I: (?)
I think I did okay considering I didn't do most of the homework. I'm pretty sure I passed the final. Unfortunately, I did terribly on all the quizzes and tests. Gender, personal pronouns and changing all the verbs are what made it so hard, and of course, those were the backbone of the entire language (from what I've gathered). I did wonderfully on the final project, though. A+.
I don't think the teacher realized how difficult a time I was having in the class, though. I wasn't slacking. Honestly.

At the end of it all, we combined 2 birthday parties and a end-of-semester bash over at Meagan's house (meagan is the former president of Sci-fi club). Lots of laughs and lovin'. Lots of puke and cryin'. It was a mixed bag evening. I ended up sobering up to take care of two overly-wasted friends, holding them both over the toilet, holding one's hair back, while keeping the other from falling in. Eew.

Miss Chamera's Parlour had another gathering. I made the fliers for it and me, Tyres and Mr. Creazil (Caleb and Sara) passed them out to people). The turnout was significantly smaller this time around, but we still had a good time. It was held at The Mez, and a few nights beforehand, Tyres came out to my place to pick up ALL my paintings from the walls to put up over there... where they still hang, until the end of the year when I go pick them up.

That same day, after the parlour, I boogied on down to Palmyra for Kelly's baby shower. I got her a digital camera. She almost cried.

Also, I went to Brendan's birthday barbecue party. It was grand, and I saw many friends I hadn't seen in ages. Erica, Jyinnavilla, Jill, Anthony, Mud, Dianne, Joe... lots of folks. Jason and Terry from Silent Auction were there. They're so adorable :) After waiting about an hour for our reserved space to clear out, we ate, got free appetizers, and then hung out outside the entrance way for about another hour, smoking, chatting, and taking pictures and video, while Dianne beat the crap out of Brendan (is 28 birthday beatings, for good luck).

And I didn't get to go to the Vertex X-mas bash.

~excited for X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Gambit is in it! I looove Gambit! He was my comic book crush when I was a kid.

~not looking forward to the holidays with relatives. I don't quite like most of my relatives, and most of them don't quite like me. I guess I'm going up north in mid January with my Florida uncle who is visiting. If the weather in the car isn't too... smug, that plan is still on.

~sewing projects! Oh man. I finally have time to sew again, which is grand because I really want to make some things for friends this holiday.

~parties! I'm going to one tonight. A small, quiet one. It will be nice :) Then there's pelethetart's Yule / Regift party, which will be mad fun. I didn't get to go last year. I'm excited. Also, a couple of surprises are ahead, but I cannot say what they are just yet.

~Music videos:
I'm working on some video projects of my own. I want to make some music videos. That's my first New Year's resolution. The first one on my list is for Song For Ten, composed by Murray Gold. It's the chipper song you hear at the end of the first David Tennant Doctor Who Christmas Special (I think, it's been a little while). I also want to do a video for one of Voltaire's songs (I'm leaning toward Graveyard Picnic).

I know I'm missing something (or some things)... what is it?

Oh, and speaking of Voltaire and videos, he has made a new animated short (with My Chemical Romance's Gerard Way as the narrator) which you can see here:
X-Mess Detritus.

Okay, is that it?? No, no... picture:

Me and Charles at Miss Chamera's Parlour Gala

The painting with the bird- directly beside my hands- belongs to Lobster Girl (Tyres's sister). All the rest are mine.

I screamed with glee! He looks like a pretty cool Gambit. Not my first casting choice, but as long as he's got the accent ;)

yyyeeeeeeeesssssss omg yesyesyes he must be Cajun. With a name like Remy LeBeaux, I better be wanting to hump his leg due to his voice!

Oh man... my friend Alan was Gambit for Halloween... he was perfect, even had the staff and the cards and the cigarette, but the accent killed it. I gave him mad hugs anyway.
The only thing I've had a beef with (since the beginning of all the X-Men movies) is that Gambit and Rogue were supposed to be around the same age because they have, you know, a thing.

Rockin! But yeah, I think it's high damn time we see Gambit. Wish we'd seen him earlier but eh, what can ya do? :P

For reals, yo. I wanted to see him so badly when the first movie came out, I sought out and watched all the X-Men cartoons, so I could hear that dashing accent, and I found all my comics with him in it, too ;)

how on earth do you keep ending up in the position of keeping people from falling into their own vomit? Thank you again for holding my hair out of my face all those years ago<3

Shucks, it was nuthin' ;)
Of course, the highlight of that night was all the kisses and makin' Tony jealous!
Dec. 22nd, 2008 12:43 am (UTC)
yeah. Apparently he's decided I'm his "Arch-Enemy". Talk about empowerment BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAA!!!!!!
Dec. 22nd, 2008 06:10 am (UTC)
Papercut his nipples! Set his pubes on fire! Live up to the title of Arch-Enemy, because getting that title is like getting permission to be nasty at him ;D
Dec. 22nd, 2008 08:14 pm (UTC)
true . . . but the meanest thing anyone can do to him is to ignore him. I've been driving him nuts doing just that >:)

although he sent a text to Jamey a couple of weeks ago when we were hanging out, saying "You probably don't realize it, but breaking up with the girl you're with tonight was one of my greatest mistakes in life". And yes, his girlfriend was in the apartment with him when he sent this. Can anyone say DOUCHEBAG??
Dec. 22nd, 2008 09:58 pm (UTC)
Mental! Wait, are you dating Jamey?
Dec. 24th, 2008 12:30 am (UTC)
nononono I'm not dating Jamey-we're just really good friends. Unfortunately Jamey is Tony's roommate until January, when Douchey McGee and his girlfriend have to move out
Dec. 24th, 2008 01:28 am (UTC)
Holy ballsack, Batman! Jamey and Tony??? Poor, poor Jamey! How is he coping?
Dec. 24th, 2008 05:21 pm (UTC)
it's a long story-I'll write you a letter and tell you all about it (I daresay I've let too much time pass:X). He's got better things to worry about in the meantime, and they'll be moved out soon enough anyways
