I don't think I can say I have ONE favourite song, but I guess I can pick one that always brightens my day (despite its sad tale).

Pretty much any song by Dionysos will pick me up :) Aside from Voltaire, they are my favourite band, and I simply cannot die without seeing them perform live someday.

(Some runners up include -but are certainly not limited to- Fall With Your Knife, by Peter Murphy; Song for Ten, by Neil Hannon; Ballbuster, by Dreamland Faces, and a bunch of other ones I can't think of right now).

That is beautiful!

What is the tale? I wish I spoke the language.

This song is toward the end of the tale. The whole album (La Mecanique du Coeur) tells a story about Jack, who was born on the coldest day in the world, and so his heart was frozen. To save his life, a witchdoctor replaced his heart with a clock, which will sustain his life if he avoids stress (like getting too angry, or falling in love). This song depicts the end of the story, where after a long and treacherous journey involving a duel to the death with his competition, he finally meets up with his love, but he has changed so much that she doesn't recognize him and refuses to let him back in her life.
