I'll be headed up to Toronto for the Toronto Comic Arts Festival this weekend with Boyfriend and Brother-in-law. Was kinda hoping this would be a relaxing getaway for just us, but Jeff really wanted to go, so, he's going too. I need to make a few music mixes before we go, and I need to bring an arsenal of back-seat entertainment for the ride up (but mostly, I will be putting pinbacks on the buttons I made for mooncalfe, who has a booth).

I am excited for the following artists:
Kate Beaton
Vera Brosgol
John Campbell
Ross Campbell
Willow Dawson
Jeph Jacques
Lucy Kinsley
Kean Soo
Jen Wang
Kyla Vanderklugt
Eric Wight
and Quebecois publisher Éditions TRIP
Here's a list of all the guests

As promised, I will be dressing as Juan Santapau's character Valerie from his web comic The Secret Knots

I wish pax_athena could have come. They are doing an exhibit tonight about German comic culture. Not sure if I'll get there in time, though.

And now, to dress and pack. If anyone needs to reach me, email or texting is best (I don't get charged roaming for texting).

How was it?!

I wonder what they do show about the German comic culture - it's slowly developing, but uh ... Though I have to tell that there is a comic we'll discuss in the literature seminar I attend. Which is a big step from not seeing comics as worth being discussed at all!

TCAF was awesome! So many people, so many artists! I was overwhelmed with my mere $40. I think I borrowed about $40 more from Charles. >_<

I wish I made it in time for the German Comic Culture exhibit :(

Comic books have recently been accepted as a form of literature here, too. We just got our first comic book lit class last year (you may remember that I took it but had to drop it due to butting heads with my prof).

What's the comic you'll discuss?

I would have had the same trouble XD I'm already saving for the Munich Comic Saloon, even though I'm not sure whether I'll be able to go at all (it's exactly the weekend before a conference ...)

I can't find the info on the comic in English, but here is the German amazon page - I've not read it yet (have to wait to have enough money for it :(), but it tries to tell the whole history of the universe from the Big Bang till now.
