[sticky post] To New Friends - Sticky

Me: Fawndolyn - Female, age 33, artist, works at the Student Tech Help Desk at a community college, an organized mess, chubster (working to change that), urban explorer, tea-drinker, and generally happy yet still chemically depressed.

Best friends I write about most: Ross, Meagan, Brian, Brendan & Casey, and Charles.

Family: I ran away from home as a teen (we have recently become on good terms, however). Charles is unhealthily attached to his family, and I am contently unattached to mine. Usually when I talk about brothers and sisters, I'm talking about friends who became family when I ran away.

Work: Andy & Delovis (my bosses), Bill, Dennis, Richard (library workers - my desk is located in the library of both campuses), Points of interest: Dennis was the animation director for Gargoyles, and Richard owns the largest collection of Vincent Price memorabilia in the world.

Favourites

Current shows I watch: Constantine, Gotham, Game of Thrones, Once Upon a Time, Archer, Big Bang Theory, Call the Midwife, True Blood, American Horror Story, Legend of Korra, Gravity Falls, and will eventually catch up on Walking Dead and Doctor Who.
All-time favs: Daria (and most other animations started on Liquid Television), Firefly, Lexx, Jekyll, Flapjack, Leverage, Gargoyles, Todd and the Book of Pure Evil, Dead Like Me, Clone High, The Dating Guy, Eerie Indiana, Masters of Horror, SVU, Criminal Minds.

Bands I will go out of my way to see: Voltaire, Bella Morte, Sisters of Murphy, Ack, Dreamland Faces (all of these are friends)
Favs I haven't seen yet: Dionysos, Emilie Autumn, The Mountain Goats, The Magnetic Fields, Malice Mizer, The Pillows, Tool, Man or Astro-Man (seen!), Stereolab, Weep/Mors Syphillica, Warpaint, Olivia Ruiz, Melanie Martinez, Misfits, The Faint...

Books I've read at least 5 times: Lord of the Flies, 1984, Lolita.
Books I've read more than once: Neverwhere, Lost Souls, Starship Troopers, Ender's Game, Invisible Monsters
Top 10 Authors: Warren Ellis, Chuck Palahniuk, Irvine Welsh, Lemony Snickett, James St. James, Neil Gaiman, Terry Pratchett, Ray Bradbury, Laurie Notaro, Mathias Malzieu

Comic books I actively (or recently) collect/read repeatedly: Saga, Fables, Fairest, Courtney Crumrin, Afterlife with Archie, FreakAngels, Bizenghast, Wallflower, Y The Last Man, Sandman, Transmetropolitan, The Maxx, Pet Shop of Horrors.

See you, Space Cowboy.
I die a little inside any time they come as close as NYC, because it's so hard to get to NY from where I am (Toronto is closer, and they'd do just as well there - I wish they'd be there sometime).
Thanks for the intro! I look forward to reading more of your posts.

I just started watching Archer - I had never heard of it until I saw it had been added to Netflix. It's too funny!

Lexx... Man, I wish they would re-run that show more often!
I have all of Lexx on DVD (it's on Netflix, too), but I took a break a few episodes from the end... now I'm afraid to go back, because when I watch those last ones, that's IT. I don't want it to be over.

Archer kills me! It's such a terrible influence on me. And I love it! So many great phrases inducted into my mental rolodex ;)
We have so many of the same likes. The Magnetic Fields <3 I love them. Firefly is amazing, the fiancee and I have the entire series and Serenity. Doctor Who of course, its one of my favorite shows, if not my number one. The fact that you like Eerie Indiana just shows how cool you are. I love Criminal Minds but I am so far behind, we don't have cable and Netflix doesn't have the show streaming yet. I remember when television on MTV was actually cool, I used to watch Aeon Flux and Daria all the time. Neverwhere and Ender's Game are two of my favorite books. I'm a huge Neil Gaiman fan, so much of what he does is on my best of list.
I'm sad to say I haven't had time to be a proper fan of Neil's in a long time. I still collect every Sandman that comes out (well, almost- those Ultimate editions are a far off Dream). But I haven't had much time to get myself good and engulfed in his novels in a while. I keep trying, though. I have all of them.
I have no idea where I am in Criminal Minds! I just watch them as they marathon on one of the local stations (we don't have cable here either, but the tv picks up Ion, a Canadian channel that plays it all night long on weekdays).
I was obsessed with Eerie Indiana when it was on tv (Jason Marsden, who played Dash X, was my first celebrity crush on someone near my own age, and for a short time, I even became friends with him, but we lost touch). I saw it playing at a party once, and that's how I found out it came to DVD. I bought it so fast!
Sounds like you have had an intense life so far! I look forward to getting to know you!
LEXX! My son has no idea how close he came to being named Kai.

You seem to have an interesting life. I look forward to reading your posts.
Thanks! And that's awesome! I met someone at a convention who named her boy Kai, after our beloved :D
