Sucks to your assmar!

I fell down the stairs (6 steps) about two hours ago. My leg just buckled under me and I caught my arm on the railing and went down flat on my face, and slammed against the door.

I knew my leg wouldn't break with such a short fall, but I'm surprised I didn't twist my ankle.

Instead, I made it out alive with big skin marks on my knee and my inferior extensor retinaculum (the spot on the top of the foot where it bends). Yeah. I had to look that up. Also, much tenderness where my arm caught on the railing. I'm going to have a big bruise there by the end of the day.

Now as the day progresses, I'm finding more sore spots. My shoulder hurts, my elbow hurts, my other knee hurts...

My poor knee, though. I tell ya.

It's the right knee that ALWAYS gets all the damage. Last year, I slipped on X-mess eve in a pot-hole outside my house and hurt that knee. Then on new year's eve I did the same thing. Now whenever the weather changes, my knee hurts... badly. And today, I'm celebrating thanksgiving with Charles's family (they'll be away on thanksgiving).

Diagnosis: Winter holidays are bad for the knees.

That's right. Not enough time to develop bed sores. The only trouble you can really get into in bed is getting pregnant... I guess.
Also, I look at the world with fair expectations (none, or, extremely freaking low) which makes it so I'll never be disappointed in anything. Care not, lest ye be shot down is my motto :)

.. feeling good (cool new honey, my so-called life coming into your so-called life, visions of turkey-lurkey and stuffing swimming in gravy in your head, etc.) + life obstacle (stairs) = fall from grace; this is yet more evidence that depression, if not taken to extremes, is really a safer, better-for-the-body state to be in; it's a theory I've been working on for a while; some people (Dr. Williams, parents, friends, people I've never met) call it "a rationale to justify your [my] pathetic state"; but, you know, think about it -- if you stay in bed 20 hours a day, how much trouble can you get into?; whatever -- keen insight, or rationale -- if it's true, it's true -- right? "Up with Down!" -- my new slogan; or maybe "Down ... the Better Up!"; my lawyer, Nolo Contendre, is still working out the trademark possibilities. (oh -- and I know it's not the gender alley you play in, but Claire Danes at 15 as Angela Chase in "... Life" is one reason Romeo & Juliet was not a story about "two seniors who find love again, on the green and rolling fairways of Del Boca Vista, Florida")

On top of LotF being one of my favourite books, I was reminded of it by this comic

All my muscles are hurting now because I have to use my upper body strength to lift myself up stairs and off couches just so my knees won't hurt as badly... I am using muscles I rarely use. I think I should hit the gym after my muscles get better.
Can you feel this too?
*pinches self*
Ouch!

Yeesh.
That sounds like a bunch of suck. Just you wait, though. One of these days you'll be old like me and then it all hurts. Take solace in the fact that no matter how old you get, I'll always be older :-(. You know I'm not really all that old, right?

Re: Yeesh.
I would know how greyingly old you are if I knew who you were, Mister or missus ANONYMOUS, if that is your real name!
