How to Drink More Water

Most of us have health and weight loss resolutions, and I'm sure everyone has heard you've got to drink way more water. Well, for me, that's SO FUCKING DIFFICULT (I've had a glass of water sitting here next to me for the past two hours. I've only had half of it so far). So I'd like to offer up some tips for drinking more water, as it's been proven to aid in weight-loss (and is super healthy in general).

Feel free to add your own.

*Designate your own water bottle (keep it with you, keep drinking, and keep it full)
*Use bangles (start with 8 or more on one wrist, and switch to the other- one for every cup you drink in a day)
*Use bottle bangles (aka rubber bands- 8 or more at the bottom, moved to the top, one for every cup you drink)
*Hourly reminder (we live in the age of technology. Let the robots tell you when to drink)
*Naturally flavour your water (with lemon/lime juice) to make it taste better, if you're into that
*Drink herbal tea. Green tea also rocks for weight loss and it's pretty much just another flavoured water
*Drink water around your meals (and during) so you eat less during, and wash it down after (awesome for digestion)
*Drink comfort water (warm & flavoured with lemon/honey/tea) on your downtime (nice hot cuppa tea with that book/homework/blog/whatever, yus)
*Eat something spicy as fuck. You'll be downing water (but if it's too much, down milk or bread instead). Also spicy boosts your metabolism.
*Apps! Watterlogged (iphone) or Water Your Body (iphone & android) are a couple.
*Eat it! You can hydrate with water-rich fruits/veggies like cucumbers, melons, celery, radishes, or even soup with a light broth.
*Suck it! Through a straw. Tell me you don't down a drink faster through a straw, come on.

Extra tips:
*Pay attention to your pee. If it's light or colourless, you're staying hydrated. If it's dark, like amber, drink up (not your pee, especially not your dark pee).
*Try to get your 8 or more glasses in by dinner, or at least a couple hours before bed, or you'll be getting up to pee in the middle of the night.
*Drink BEFORE you brush your teeth. That's not the kind of flavour of water you'll want. Your last drink of the day should be before your night-time brushing.
*Drink a lot more to beat the heat (of a good workout and of the weather)
*if your tap water is unsafe or just gross, opt for bottled water)
*Don't use too much flavour and don't flavour too much, otherwise your buds will get used to the taste, and regular water will be the most bland, boring thing to drink imaginable.

Yes about the herbal teas. Its pretty much what I survive the winters on.

Also: big tea-cups (and awesome friends, who give you big tea cups as present - I have the "Dream" one half-full in front of me as I sit here typing it). And re-filling your cup before you actually get thirsty. By the time the tea has steeped long enough and has cooled enough to drink, you'll most likely be thirsty again.

I never think to refill before I'm thirsty again :)
And now I'm about to grab my big cup, and my big teapot and drink the night away!
